The Triglavska Residential Neighbourhood by Groleger arhitekti is located in Ljubljana, Slovenia. After winning first prize in an invited competition in 2003, which challenged architects to create a high quality of residential premises that are expressive, joyful and respects the qualities of the place. Located in Ljubljana, the new residential area is integrated into the existing fabric of a part of town characterized by residential complex built in green areas. The main urban idea was to create a dynamic exterior, unique in its neighborhood with luxuriant vegetation making the complex part of the landscape included in the green lawn.

The architecture expresses the ambition to promote the integrity and clarity of conception. The complex is divided into three separate entities, composed of two types of buildings: the long building corners in the Westen to the court to give a playful touch to a basic form of construction to avoid monotony. In the eastern part, the shape becomes more expressive – the upper part of the building passes considerably lower. The forms are kept simple but sculptural. The second type consists of two towers simply repeating the square shape of existing buildings south of the construction site. The group offers 188 apartments of different sizes with a total area to 32,000 sqm.

The long building with a height ranging from 4 to 6 storeys, contains smaller apartments ranging in size from 40 to 70 square meters, buildings dominant feature – the floor dynamically shaped roof is reserved for the largest apartments (150 m2 ) with terraces and balconies. The two towers with a height of 7 storeys, providing space for large apartments (60 -790 square meters) with the advantage of a dual aspect orientation. The apartments vary in size reveiled in the courtyard facades of the two towers to create a puzzle-like 3D. Variation in the facades gives all three volumes of individual character, unified by the warm surface of clay. The central trio is designed as a small park between the volumes, acting as a focus of the complexity and the creation of a dynamic interaction inside. Survey on the columns, the interior seamlessly into the flow outside.
