Toothpick City II update in Ronchamp, France

December 23, 2010 Category: Cultural, Public Buildings

Toothpick City II update that located in Ronchamp, France, was designed by Editorial. As his second Toothpick City neared completion, Munro requested the aid of WAN readers by asking for inspiration in the form of building suggestions. The invitation received many responses, despite being ‘really difficult buildings that [he’d] been avoiding’. Ultimately, Munro decided on Le Corbusier’s chapel of Notre Dame du Haut in Ronchamp, France, after numerous suggestions for the religious structure, with its billowing concrete roof and decidedly abstract windows. The artist extends his gratitude to the many WAN readers who emailed with suggestions and good wishes.
