Designed by Austin Smith Lord, Argent Estates’s 250,000 sq ft office building, Three Piccadilly Place is located in Manchester, United Kingdom. Built with 13 high floor opposite Piccadilly Station, boasting floor plates up to 19,500 square feet, the Three Piccadilly Place is the first building in England have to wear a cassette panel TECU ® Brass, a class CuZn15 copper and zinc alloy that has been designed specifically for use in the facade.
Weathering changes the original reddish golden colour of the surface in a very lively manner, with each façade developing its own unique characteristics. After the initial matting, the surface takes on a light golden brown that will sit comfortably within the historic context of Manchester. Further gradual aging will mirror traditional high quality materials in the area such the faience on the adjacent Central Fire Station building.
The building began the second phase of construction on the southern part of Piccadilly Place, leaving a 120,000 sq ft office building designed by Hodder Associates and a 157 residential apartments designed by Glenn Howells currently being developed. Construction on the northern site of Piccadilly Place is almost complete; comprising a 285 bed City Inn Hotel, a 60,000 sq ft new headquarters for the GMPTE, a new public piazza and a Wilkinson Eyre designed pedestrian footbridge linking into the site from Piccadilly Station.
