The University of Queensland School of Veterinary Science designed by Architectus is located in Gatton, Australia. The Architectus project for the University of Queensland’s School of Veterinary Science required the consolidation of the University’s animal research groups from UQ’s main campus in the Brisbane, Australia suburb of St. Lucia to its rural Gatton campus, 90km to the west. The newly opened School of Veterinary Science now houses the most comprehensive facilities of its kind in Australia, complying fully with international accreditation standards and linking the university to local and regional communities.

The project comprises four new buildings and the reuse of an existing building; these include an Animal Hospital, Veterinary Teaching Laboratories, Clinical Studies Centre and Veterinary Sciences Building / Research Centre. Architectus’ design provides a fully integrated solution to the task of re-housing the university’s animal research groups on its rural Gatton campus, making a clear and efficient response to a complex set of brief demands.
