Designed by Studio RHE, The Penthouse is located in London, United Kingdom. The Penthouse is situated on the tops of two adjacent 1930s apartment blocks in London’s Notting Hill. The brief asked for a breathtaking new living space that would maximise the available views and be a showcase for cutting edge technology. This lightweight, laser-cut stainless steel frame with custom made frameless double curvature sealed glass panels, naturally ventilating automatic hydraulic gull wing windows and curved blinds creates a unique perspective and maximises the views and living among the canopy of the Crescent’s trees.
Entry to the home is provided by an Iris Recognition System, which activates the external lighting, lift and provides secure access to the owners level. Curved sealed double-glazed high insulation heat reflective units were hand made in Italy with the corner units slumped over 3D steel formers, while the windows are hydraulically actuated with inbuilt rams pushing the 500kg units and locking them in position up to the horizon line.
