Society Hill – Zhangjiawo New Town in Tianjin, China

June 06, 2010 Category: Housing, Residential

The Society Hill – Zhangjiawo New Town designed by  RHEINSCHIENE architects is located in Tianjin, China. The design in this project is based on a certain type of building typology, which is derived from the traditional Chinese construction of a house centred around a courtyard. All types of houses have their own private garden or roof top terrace. These include 2 storey houses with a courtyard, 3 storey row houses, condominiums and villas.

The harmony within the housing development is emphasised using brick façades and having an open architectural design; although, on the other hand, the individuality of the various quarters are underscored by the different toned plaster. The centre consists of two to three storied houses. Four to five storied houses are constructed on the outskirts, which also includes a children’s day care centre with six different areas and a sports and recreational club.
