Located in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, Rosas & Xocolate was designed by REYES RIOS + LARRAIN. All suites and guestrooms include a private open patio with a whirpool, as well as high ceilings, as a response to the weather conditions. The project’s concept preserves original spaces in both houses, where the main hotel’s public areas, the suites and a significant part of the back of the house were placed.
The new spaces added (about more than 50% of the resultant whole) have been designed as a modern recreation, a new interpretation of the luxurious yucatecan homes of the early twentieth century, that fuses old with new. Use and selection of colour contributes to link the building with its natural and cultural context, responding to the intense luminosity of Yucatecan sun and chromatic tradition of Mexican Architecture.
