Research and Enterprise Centre design exterior
The Research and Enterprise Centre designed by Tritschler Tritschler Associates is located in Waterford Institute of Technology, Waterford, Ireland. The two-storey section has a dramatic curved roof and the upper floor of this section is a mezzanine. The curvature of the roof reflects the slope of the land and rises to meet the mature tree line on the eastern boundary. The elevation facing the River is clean-lined, spare and economical in its use of material. The eastern elevation on the other hand, which is seen through a natural canopy of trees, is rich and vibrant. It has a more organic feel complimented by the use of brick and timber windows. The windows are splayed to catch as much of the morning sun as possible. Perforated stainless steel reflectors increase the light to a maximum.
