The Petrus and Paulus church Maassluis designed by Royal Haskoning is located in Maassluis, Netherlands. This new church is a design by Mari Baauw and Rene Olivier of Royal Haskoning Architects in Rotterdam developed in close collaboration with the parish. The striking and unusual architecture features elements made up of several ‘leaves’ which accommodate the various spaces and admit the light. This eye-catching effect was achieved by using insulated membranes spanning a steel skeleton. It is not just the architecture and the technology that are remarkable, the liturgical layout is in keeping with modern views.
