‘PAROS’ Sentosa Cove in Singapore, Singapore

July 06, 2011 Category: House, Residential

The ‘PAROS’ Sentosa Cove designed by Design Collective Architects is located in Singapore, Singapore.  In a context where each house tries to out-do the previous with newer technology, materials and exotic finishes, the philosophy of PAROS was to undo all of the above. PAROS was to provide the break in the monotony of what was becoming of the common streetscape of closely constructed single residential homes.

There was a conscious attempt to create and to hide architecture. The dwelling space was created by means of peeling the earth up and tucking beneath. The space created would open out towards the back of the plot overlooking the waterfront and close off and disappear along the front driveway. Only a blank white wall signifies the presence of a building within the place. The entire roof of the house seems to rise from the earth, taking along what was the original garden with it onto the rooftop. The roof top garden is accessible from the master bedroom.
