Located in Oxford, United Kingdom, Oxford Science Area – Physics CL2 & Chemistry CL2 was designed by Purcell Miller Tritton. To ensure that the new buildings would not have an adverse impact on their sensitive, historic location, Heritage Statements were produced for the two proposed buildings. In line with the government’s Planning Policy Statement 5: Planning for the Historic Environment, these reports assessed the history and significance of the Heritage Assets that would be affected by the proposed development. Both an historian and an architect from the practice conducted site visits and archival research in preparation for the work.
Subsequently, reports were written to assess the impact of the two proposed buildings on the heritage values that the surrounding site holds, paying particular attention to the Grade I listed Keble College and University Museum, as well as assessing the impact of the scheme in a number of verified views. Purcell Miller Tritton also attended regular meetings with the client and the architects of the schemes in order to be briefed and to provide input on the progress of the design development.
