Designed by Matsuyama Architect & Associates, Ohashi Clinic is located in Tokyo, Japan.The Ohashi obstetrics and gynecology clinic is a new state-of-the-art facility located on the outer edge of Tokyo. The architectural program is aimed towards creating an environment in which medical safety is prioritised, and in which childbirth is as comfortable as possible. The space constitution and light environment of the interior are set up in accordance with the physical and psychological conditions recognised to be necessary for comfortable and safe delivery.

The architectural structure is composed with an aspect of harmony between inside and out, aided by the continuous timber ‘lattice’ structure of the exterior, which reflects the both the interior and the forested land nearby. Internally, the ground floor windows open out on to a green tract of land on the city side, in a continuation of the harmonious balance between the building and its surroundings.

This form of operation and environmental medicine available locally sets a new template for perinatal treatment in Tokyo, and is intended to set a new standard in Japan for this type of medical facility.
