Designed by LINK arkitektur AS, Nordahl Grieg Highschool is located in Bergen, Norway. This new school has room for 800 students. Whilst the pupils and staff are provided with a superb teaching facility, the project, covering an area of 14.000 sq m, has a simplistic design which is well embedded in the landscape.
Universal design and advanced technical solutions have been implemented making this school available to everyone, with special focus on the hearing impaired. The layout is uncomplicated and the intentional use of colours allows for easy orientation. The flexible layout and extensive use of glass gives the building a feeling of transparency and openness which again is reflected in the educational prospect. Students can simultaneously engage in different modalities of learning in an environment where colour and technology abound.
