Commission to expand and renovate the Natick Mall in Massachusetts, one of the first enclosed shopping center built east of the Mississippi River, presented Beyer Blinder Belle to the opportunity to revive this type of building with new energy.
The approach of architects to rebuild this suburban shopping center was dull to introduce a high standard of design commonly found in commercial environments such as urban class. The architects covered the existing mall by a bright undulating skylight that runs along the building and brought the precious art and high end finishes such as hardwood floors and porcelain tiles throughout.
This upgrade high-end and the decision of the promoter to make tony retailers like Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s and Neiman Marcus is intended to attract consumers who shop at large in major metropolitan areas to the suburbs. In more than 500.000 square foot renovation and expansion of the mall, the redevelopment of the 60 – acre called to an apartment building luxury condominiums, a health lifestyle outdoor parking area and a luxury hotel ahead. The project opened to the public in September ’07.
