That located in South Africa, was designed by Editorial, Musgrave Centre remains a major shopper destination that has been serving shoppers in the Berea area and beyond for the past couple of decades. The renovation of the centre will improve on store variety with special emphasis placed on improving the aesthetics of the centre and new interior features.
The common areas in the office tower will receive a makeover. Retail areas that will receive attention include upgraded ablution facilities, with the inclusion of baby change room facilities, new lighting and flooring, to improve the ambience of the centre. A new entrance and mall will be created from the parking facilities into the ex-Stuttafords area, to improve access and convenience for shoppers into the centre, including the installation of additional escalators between levels. A new food court area is also on the cards and it will be located on the third level near Spur.
Anchored by Pick n Pay and Woolworths, the mini regional centre last received an updated look in 1994. The entire revamp is going to be phased starting with the ex-Stuttafords area. Construction will begin in July 2010, with a brief break during the festive season; resuming in January 2011. Completion is planned for winter of 2011. All work will be performed to minimise interference and inconvenience to shoppers during the centre’s trading hours.
