The Lillefjord was designed by PUSHAK AS that located in County of Finnmark, in the very North of Norway is footbridge and rest area for rural Norway’s harsh climate. Noting a dilapidated bridge up the river, PUSHAK proposed wrapping the entire program into a new crossing. The move meant creating a distinct architectural object to contrast the rough yet grand landscape, instead of scattering its grounds with furniture. The bridge’s turning form, comprising a three-dimensional prefabricated steel frame enveloping a wood interior, leads hikers and visitors to the trail system. The steel frame was prefabricated, minimising work on site in this rough climate. The wooden interior of the bridge has benches where one can rest shielded form the wind while looking at the waterfall. Materials that are chosen to minimise maintenance. Client: The National Tourist Road Project.
