Indes office in Enschede, Netherlands

January 21, 2011 Category: Commercial Building, Office

Located in Enschede, Netherlands, Indes office was designed by Arconiko architecten, The design attempts to combine all of this information. Open workspace is the central issue of this office design, as all of the design studios are in direct contact with a central void, situated in the high part of the building, at the side of the railway. Service space such as toilets and storage are situated in the middle zone, acting as the spine of the building’s lower section. The inclusion of mobile furniture regulates the flexible use of the building.

The building has an efficient scheme that does not result in a static plan. Although the form of the building distinguishes the structure from its neighbours in the surrounding area, it mainly signifies an energetic purpose. The high space causes a natural draft in order to carry away the ventilated air. An additional heat pump that extracts energy from the soil both heats and cools the building.
