Designed by WATG,House of Musical Arts is located in Muscat, Oman. The architecture of the House of Musical Arts is sympathetic to the grand style of modern Omani public buildings. It uses traditional forms of colonnades, terraces and sculptural tower forms, and is finished in locally-sourced light coloured stone and complementary stucco. One of the distinctive features of the project is that the concert hall’s shell is a mobile structure that can be detached to allow an adjustable proscenium to drop into place to create a traditional theatre format.
