Holland Park Bungalow completes new villa in Singapore

June 23, 2011 Category: House, Residential

Designed by TIERRA Design, Holland Park Bungalow completes new villa is located in Singapore. An internal axis enabled each house to look inward towards the common landscape spine which leads to and is focused on the 6th house, the existing conserved villa. The original villa on the crown of the site presides over the 5 new villas. Unlike most developments, which have walls enclosing each private villa, this development chose to be without its walled ‘fortifications’ so often found in Asia. The Holland Park 8 BOX villa is a cluster of cubic volumes of differing sizes and orientation. It appears as a hybrid amongst the other villas with its pristine forms, down-playing its materiality and tectonics of construction.

The design is concerned with the sculptural effects produced by the massing of the cubic volumes and the designers were interested in dealing not just with archetypal form but in the combination of these forms into a complex interlocking whole. .
