Highmead Estate in Edmonton, North London, United Kingdom

The Highmead Estate designed by HawkinsBrown is located in Edmonton, North London, United Kingdom.  Replacing an 11-storey 1960s tower block in poor condition and an outmoded parade of shops, the £25m scheme will provide 120 mixed tenure homes, 1,092 sq m of retail space, a community centre and new mews housing surrounding a community garden at the centre of the 0.6ha site.

HawkinsBrown’s scheme integrates two building typologies: family terrace houses and an apartment block in a design that features shifting planes that respond strongly to its urban context. The building is composed of different shades and patterns of brick that contrast and combine for a striking visual effect.
