The Heritage Solar Slate, was designed by Heritage Solar Slate Ltd, located in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, These innovative solar slates have been developed with similar aesthetic properties to roofing slates. They are fully weather proof and blend in with standard roof slates to provide an aesthetically pleasing solar panel roof ideal for use in conservation areas, on historic buildings. This new product is the long-awaited photovoltaic solution to planning constraints for conservation areas and historic buildings wanting to improve their carbon footprint.
The installation is a ‘fit-and-forget’ process, requiring nothing more than traditional roofing building skills. The electrician installing the system is required to be MCS accredited. Secured with roofing hooks the roof should be built as normal, to batten level, with a gauge of 205mm.
Despite the existence of other photovoltaic slates on the market, this product is the only that looks so much alike a traditional slate, that it can be installed on listed building slate roofs, and still meet planning requirements.
