Located in Lyon, France was designed by Patriarche & Co, Genzyme office building is a pioneer in medical biotechnology. It has set up its main premises in Lyon, in the Gerland district. A production unit, laboratories and offices are brought together behind a double skin that affirms the urban aspect of this project.
The landscaping design is integrated into the site plan, minimising waterproofing works and the planting of allergenic varieties. The vegetation is dense and diversified, with a large floral meadow planted at the heart of the plot.
The thermal strategy is organised around a very efficient casing, consisting of a double glass skin, actively regulating the hygrothermal atmosphere inside the building summer and winter alike. An atrium distributes natural light inside the offices, saving on artificial lighting costs. Lastly, renewable energy is generated by photovoltaic panels, completing the system. During the design phase the building was modelled by thermal dynamic simulation using Trnsys software.
