Gansevoort Park Avenue in New York City, United States

May 05, 2011 Category: Commercial Building, Hotel

The Gansevoort Park Avenue designed by SJB is located in New York City, United States.  The hotel’s base consists of honed and polished dark granite framing sections of three-story glass curtain wall. Above the third floor, the facades are bronze coloured metal panels and floor-to-ceiling windows. The corner of the building features a 150-foot tall glass column containing colour-changing LEDs. While the materials are contemporary, the colour of the façade blends with its neighbours during the daytime.

The lobby is a dramatic three-story space with a black and white herringbone granite floor, oversized plum coloured chandeliers and fireplace, and Venetian plaster walls. The old world Park Avenue lobby has been redefined into a dynamic contemporary space through the use of scale, materials, colours and eclectic juxtapositions. The ground floor also consists of a restaurant, bar and retail space. The third floor houses pre-function and ballroom spaces, as well as a spa, fitness room, sauna and hairdressers.
