Expansion and Reform of the Nautical Sport Services Building in Portonovo, Spain
Designed by Diaz y Diaz Arquitectos, Expansion and Reform of the Nautical Sport Services Building is located in Portonovo, Spain. The project builds on an existing building, with the need to extend the useful space and improve access from the promenade and the platform that surrounds it. Another premise of this project is to design a building that will become a landmark of the promenade of Portonovo, creating a singular and unique reference. The need for expanding and improving facilities of the Nautical Sports Services of the port will require the demolition of part of the existing building and relocation of the different uses inside, creating an extension of the building.
The principal idea consists in wrapping the original building with a new facade of black-coloured phenolic panels, giving a modern view of the Club and guaranteeing waterproofing and insulation in this exposed area. Part of the northern facade of phenolic panel is drilled to hide windows and doors, maintaining ventilation and lighting, and giving the building a unique look.
