Designed by Nakayama Architects, Esashi Ryotei Kuki is located in Esashi,Hokkaido, Japan. The coastal hotel looks out over the ocean and the Kamome Island. Covering an area of approximately 3,800 square feet, the building is single story made almost entirely from wood except for the concrete base and walls. There are only seven rooms in total, each having a cosy and comfortable feel with a unique appearance to contrast the damp atmosphere outside, as it surrounded by an arid landscape and exposed to strong, almost constant winds.
It takes two hours to reach Esashi by train from Hakodate Station, therefore the staff provide excellent service to make the visit as leisurely as possible. The hotel is designed to ‘heal’ the customer and ‘wash their mind’ from stress. To accomplish this, the hotel design is not showy but subtle and soft.
