Cosmopolitan New residential tower reinvigorates in San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Cosmopolitan New residential tower reinvigorates designed by RTKL is located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The design team’s innovative two-core structural system, a new approach in Puerto Rican residential design, enabled the creation of the tower’s floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall exterior glass façade. This approach also provided units direct elevator access, exclusive entryways, open floor plans, and expansive balconies with views to the adjacent Candado Lagoon.

Water is a recurring element throughout the design. It is used in the entry procession from the motor court, along the townhouse wall, to the pool deck and as a visual connection to the lagoon. The aesthetic bridges the gap between classical and contemporary design through the use of indigenous materials such as Piedra Caliza teak wood and blue cobble stone.
