The Connah’s Quay Health Centre, designed by Holder Mathias Architects and built by Allenbuild, houses three established GP practices in the town, who have relocated to the new facility, and also replaces the existing NHS clinic. As part of the scheme, new council offices and a pharmacy have also opened in a building adjacent to the centre.
The 3,700 sq ft building will provide bigger premises for each of the three surgeries relocating, including additional consulting and treatment rooms to allow services to be expanded, as well as providing modern facilities such as improved IT and communication systems, new furniture and an onsite café for patients and visitors. Although the three surgeries will still operate as separate practices, each with their own dedicated areas within the building, it is hoped the centre will lead to stronger joint working and bring primary and community care together, with facilities for staff training intended for use by a number of local GP practices, as well as partners in health and social care.
