Located in Chongqing region, China, Children’s Medical Centre was designed by Keppie Design have just won the contract for a new children’s hospital in the Chongqing region of central China. The new centre will be built in three phases and will include an acute hospital with more than 1000 beds and a total floor space of 280,000 sq m. Detailed design work will begin immediately and the building project is expected to take three years.
Keppie Design now have ten live projects in China including the prestigious the 850-seat Huangshan Theatre that is being designed to a brief led by Chen Weiya, best known for being Assistant Chief Director for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Urban designers at Keppie are also drawing up the master plan for a new town at Mount Taiyang that will eventually be the size of Ross’ home town of Kilmarnock.
