Located in Singapore, Changi Airport Terminal 3, International Airport was designed by Woodhead. The planning encourages intuitive spatial navigation to promote ease of orientation and way-finding. The design concept implements ‘total journey experience’, an approach focused on the needs of passengers at every stage, from drop-off to departure, arrival to pick-up and supports a human scale connection within the larger civic building and integrates functional planning with passenger amenities.
Arrivals and departures are connected by crystal cascade waterfalls and vertical wall gardens spanning 300 m. The waterfalls comprise textured glass bonded to a mirror finish stainless steel structural frame. A sculptured sandstone art wall welcomes passengers in the arrivals hall, an artistic diversion designed to encourage tactile exploration, while awaiting baggage. The airside precinct features central circulation connected by 3 main dwell zones.
