Casa Fasano in São Paulo, Brazil

July 03, 2010 Category: Cultural, Public Buildings

Designed by Isay Weinfeild Architects, Casa Fasano is located in São Paulo, Brazil. Casa Fasano is a rental space for events – weddings, receptions, corporate gatherings, etc – designed to accommodate up to 800 people for dinner or 1,200 for cocktail, at about 1,700 sq m. The idea was to design a space as open and flexible as possible, so it could be set up in as many different ways as necessary for the various types of events.

In simple terms, the building consists of a large glass ‘case’ (triple-height ceiling salon) out of which a lower opaque solid (foyer on ground floor, service facilities on the first floor) projects out from. On entering the building guests reach first this low-ceilinged foyer, and further, the very high ceilinged salon – high enough for some Brazilian Grape trees to grow. A stage for live performances and some outdoors sitting spots are other attributes of the house.
