The Boldrewood Campus, University of Southampton designed by Grimshaw is located in Southampton, United Kingdom. Demolition is now well underway and enabling works complete, including the installation of a new access junction to Burgess Road. The construction of a Technology Centre for the Lloyd’s Register Group will follow together with an Engineering Building for the University, a shared Maritime Institute between the two and soft landscaping screening new car and cycle parking. Each of the buildings have been designed to create simple orthogonal blocks with strong clean lines as a foil to the adjacent trees and rolling lawns. They have been developed with efficient layouts grouped to promote healthy interaction between conference, training, library and collaborative spaces.

Grimshaw’s design replaces the substantial science block in the centre of the site with a formal collegiate lawn. Working closely with Land Use Consultants, mature landscape features have been preserved whilst accommodating existing topographic levels.
