Bentley Technology Precinct in Perth, Australia

March 11, 2011 Category: Housing, Residential

Located in Perth, Australia, Bentley Technology Precinct was designed by Hames Sharley. The precinct will provide housing for 13,000 people and will include 400,000sq m of commercial and technology facilities and 80,000sq m of educational and research facilities. Seven times larger than the current 23 year old facility, the redevelopment will bring together educational facilities, researchers, businesses, government departments and community organisations.

There is a focus on the minimisation of the precincts’ ecological footprint and on public transportation. The sustainability framework addresses issues such as adaptable design, minimisation of car usage, increased biodiversity, waste water recycling and the use of recycled building materials. All new buildings will be required to generate at least 40% of their energy needs and are to achieve a minimum 5 star Green Star rating and 4.5 star ABGR standards.
