The Bakery Works Project designed by Austin-Smith:Lord is located in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Apartments will be situated on the first and second floors, whilst duplexes at the roof level will be provided, offering westerly views towards the river Mersey. Composed of simple orthogonal forms, a simple palette of materials of Liverpool red brick, metal framed windows and planar glazing is used for the building, while the north and south facades make contrasting uses of the materials to reflect the difference in orientation. High quality composite concrete paneling is used to form the main mass of the building, while copper bonded sheet cladding wraps around the extruded elements of the form, perforated at balcony locations to allow light to pass through.
