Designed by Albert Wimmer Architects / Albert Wimmer ZT-GmbH, 11_2 (Elf_Zwei) is located in Vienna, Austria. In Monte Laa, an urban vision is becoming a reality: the construction of an organic, self-functioning, town in the town – in a newly created urban space. The 220-metre-long and 90-metre-wide slab-structure bridging of Austria’s busiest road, the southeast bypass, has produced – and is producing – 200,000 m2 of usable floor space and a 12,000 m2 park. The new district of Monte Laa innovatively combines work, living and recreation.

In the residential complex Monte Laa urban planning is realised by a captivating interplay between prosperity and the generous freedom of the surrounding open spaces. The amalgamation of leisure-time and residential functionality has been effortlessly crafted, and so creates the key feature of the Elf_Zwei complex: the Pleasure Strip. An architectural fairytale is told underneath the colourful, dancing columns of the ground floor Pleasure Strip, the spacious dimensions of which offer not only a place for relaxation or play, but the sense of community afforded by its communal facilities.

It also serves as an avenue between in- and outdoors as its 4,50m ceiling evokes feelings of liberation. The layout of the complex has provided 78 bright apartments, including several two-story units. Being of the highest technical quality and artistic innovation, Elf_Zwei realizes gorgeous living in its truest sense as well as providing very affordable living space.
